Slow speeds may be caused by:
- A weak connection
- A busy network
- Slow internet offered by your internet service provider
Here are some suggestions regarding slow speeds caused by a weak signal:
- Place your device closer to your M2 router. If you have a high requirement for internet speed and bandwidth, you may want to ensure your device is connected to the M2 directly, rather than getting a signal from a busy node.
- Try to place your M2 in an open area and in the centre of your mesh Wi-Fi network. Since the signals from M2s are stronger than those from Bees through walls, we recommend placing any M2 nodes you may have in the areas where you experience the slowest speeds.
- Turn off Increase Mesh Coverage. A large coverage area could weaken your signal and result in slower speeds. Go to the Mercku app > Select Wi-Fi Points -> Turn on Increase Mesh Coverage at the top of the page.
- Switch the encryption method from WPA/WPA2 -PSK (M2 default) to WPA2 only. Older routers or devices (10+ years old) may access your network via WPA which will slow the whole network down. If you do not have older devices, WPA2 is the recommended encryption method. Go to Mercku app -> Setting -> wifi settings -> encryption ->WPA2.
- If the above steps do not help, please submit a technical feedback form (instructions here) describing the issue and include a floor plan with the locations of your Mercku devices. A simple sketch will suffice in giving our team enough information to aid you in optimizing the deployment within your home.
