In this article, we'll explain what Static DHCP is, and show how to set up a Static DHCP Lease on a Mercku router?
A static IP address is a dedicated address that is permanently assigned to your network devices that do not change. Since a router will be able to change the IP that is assigned to a device by DHCP, there will be situations when a fixed IP address is needed, especially in port forwarding. DHCP will provide temporary IP addresses while static DHCP will lease permanent IP addresses.
Mercku M2 and M6 static DHCP is a feature to make the DHCP always assign the same IP address to a certain MAC address.
The management route is the same on both the Mercku M2 and the Mercku M6.
Setting up a static DHCP lease can be completed through the Mercku App or Portal:
Using the Mercku App:
- Open the Mercku App on your mobile device
- Select Settings > Advanced Settings > Static DHCP Lease > Add
Using the Mercku Portal:
- Visit http://mywifi.mercku.tech, and log in using your Router Admin Password
- Select Advanced Settings > Static DHCP Lease > Add
How to configure a static DHCP lease:
Select the device you want to assign the static IP address to from the βDevicesβ dropdown list or input the MAC address of the device that you want to assign the static IP address to, and then assign an IP for this device. It is highly suggested that the static IP address you will assign is included in the DHCP IP address pool.
That's it - now you know how to set up a Static DHCP lease π
