In this article, we'll show how to set up DMZ Host on your Mercku device.
Please note: this setting is for Advanced Users. Proceed carefully.
A home router DMZ host is a host on the internal network that has all UDP and TCP ports open and exposed, except for those ports that have been forwarded. This is used as a simple method to forward all ports to another NAT device or firewall.
The purpose of a DMZ is to add an additional layer of security to an organization's local area network (LAN): an external network node can access only what is exposed in the DMZ, while the rest of the organization's network is firewalled.
Mercku's M2 and M6 DMZ host solves issues where the external network cannot access the internal network server after installing a firewall and sets up a buffer between the non-secured system and the secured system. The DMZ is typically a filtered subnet that establishes a safe zone between the internal and external networks and allows you to only expose one device to the internet.
DMZ host features can be accessed through the Mercku App or Portal.
Make sure you assign a static IP address to the device that you want to become the DMZ Host. This is important so that your router does not assign a random IP to a device that you don’t wish to be the DMZ host.
The management route is the same on both the Mercku M2 and the Mercku M6.
Using the Mercku App:
- Download the Mercku App from AppStore for iOS, or Google Play for Android
- Make sure your device is connected to your Mercku Network
- Open the Mercku App on your mobile device
- On the Home Screen, select Settings > Advanced Settings > DMZ Host and toggle the switch to enable DMZ host
Using the Mercku Portal:
- Visit http://mywifi.mercku.tech, and log in using your Router Admin Password
Select Advanced Settings > DMZ Host > Enter DMZ host IP address > Save
That's it - you've set up DMZ Host on your Mercku Network 🎉
