In this article, we'll show how to quickly separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands on your WiFi
On either Mercku M2 and Mercku M6 routers, you can easily split the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks right from your Mercku App, or the Web Portal.
To split 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, all you have to do is turn off a feature called "Smart Connect".
Smart Connect feature combines the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands under a single SSID and lets the Mercku router decide which band to use with your particular device. Disabling this feature creates two separate networks - 2.5GHz and 5GHz - and lets you manually choose to connect to your preferred band instead.
Method 1: Mercku App
- Download the Mercku App from AppStore for iOS, or Google Play for Android
- Make sure your device is connected to your Mercku Network
- Open the Mercku App on your mobile device
- On the main screen, click the Settings icon
- Select Wi-Fi Settings and toggle Smart Connect switch to turn it off.
Method 2: Mercku Web Portal
- Make sure your computer is connected to the Mercku Wi-Fi Network
- From a Web Browser, open http://mywifi.mercku.tech, and log in using your Router Admin Password
- Under Settings > Select Wi-Fi Settings > and toggle Smart Connect switch to turn it off
Once you turn Smart Connect OFF, your device will reboot. Do not unplug your device during the reboot. After your device is back online, you will see two networks - the 2.4 GHz network (will have the same SSID), and the 5 GHz network ("SSID with 5G at the end").
The password for both networks will remain the same.
Good job - now you've separated the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands on your Mercku system!
